Every desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, as well as any applications that are present on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each and every application runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. If a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs available on the market and we supply all three of them instead of just 1 because we realize that you might want to set up some software that has specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there're different software packages you could install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you want to use one and that is why we offer several Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you need to have some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you want. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a wider choice with regard to the system environment on the machine as different applications may have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a stable and secure hosting service. Based on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you have selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software which you intend to run. We can also update your OS regularly to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
